ACLS Online

Our ACLS online certification class is a convenient, comprehensive course that covers current advanced cardiovascular life support techniques and principles. Our ACLS course is ideal for healthcare professionals who provide care during certain types of life threatening medical emergencies such as cardiac, respiratory and pulmonary arrest, stroke and myocardial infarction. Although all healthcare professionals should be familiar with ACLS interventions, providers who often need to be certified are Emergency/Critical care doctors, nurses and nurse practitioners, emergency medical services, dentists, paramedics and first responders.

Our ACLS certification course and training materials were created by healthcare professionals using the most current ECC guidelines set by the AHA. Course topics include: types of algorithms (VF/Pulseless VT, Tachycardia, PEA/Asystole), team dynamics and communication, recognizing and responding to emergency scenarios. Upon completion of our ACLS course, you should have a core understanding of the foundation of advanced cardiovascular life support and be able to recognize and deploy interventions for patients in pre-arrest, arrest and post arrest. It is crucial for each team member, whether or not they are administering treatment, to be knowledgeable in every system of care so that the team can work as one cohesive unit.

In 2015, the American Heart Association released updates to the ACLS guidelines which will be good through 2020. While there were no major changes to the guidelines, some of the notable updates were:

  1. Cardiac Arrest Medication Change
  2. Ultrasound for ETT Confirmation
  3. ECMO as a possible alternative to CPR in certain patients

All 2015 updates will be included in your ACLS class materials.

Access to your account is available 24-hrs a day from any internet ready device. Our fast online ACLS course can generally be completed within 90 minutes depending on the level of experience, some individuals may require more or less time.

The certification exam is completed online and is multiple choice. A passing score of 80% is required to earn your ACLS certification. Exams are automatically corrected and scored. If you fail to pass the exam on the first try, you will have two more attempts to successfully complete the exam. Please note that incorrect answers will not be revealed until a passing score is earned on the exam. It’s important that if you do not pass the exam, that you take the necessary time to review the study materials until you have a complete understanding of the skills required to employ ACLS interventions.

Upon successful completion of the certification exam, a digital ACLS certification provider card will be emailed to you. This is a temporary card that can be used for proof of certification until your hard copy arrives in the mail. Please allow 5-7 days for your provider card to arrive. If you need the hard copy sooner, we do offer rush shipping for an additional cost.

ACLS Recertification Course

ACLS certification is generally required to be renewed every 2 years. We recommend renewing at least one month prior to your expiration date to avoid being non-compliant with your employer. Our ACLS recertification course follows the same procedure as our regular courses, however, the most recent updates will be highlighted within the study materials to make students aware of the changes.

We do not provide ACLS renewal provider cards to students without successful completion of the recertification exam even if they have previously passed the primary certification exam. Replacement cards are only given to providers who have lost their cards and will include the original date of certification.
